Annually, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Metropolitan Saint Louis Chapter, awards a scholarship to academically promising black women.  This scholarship program is called Achievement Against the Odds.  We offer this scholarship to:

  • Identify, publicly honor, and encourage academically promising Black women who are striving to advance or change careers
  • Encourage Black women who exhibit evidence of the ability to achieve and continue their formal education
  • Equip under-skilled or under-employed Black women with the resources needed to enter the work force and seek professional employment

The scholarship is always awarded at our Annual Mother’s Day Brunch, which is held in the spring. Both the amount of the scholarship and the number of recipients awarded varies from year to year.

Qualifications for the Achievement Against the Odds scholarship are:

  • Applicants must be at least 30 years of age
  • Enrolled in an accredited college for at least one year
  • Reside in the Metropolitan St. Louis area.
